Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
A little housekeeping head’s up:
Rest assured, Culture Crypt isn’t going anywhere, certainly not now or for the foreseeable future. That said, you may see slightly less of it in 2021.
2020 was supposed to be the year a lot of us did a lot of things. COVID had other ideas. My main goal was a career move that would have reduced time I could devote to the site. Since that didn’t happen, I kept up the 3x/week routine of posting reviews to maintain a regular writing schedule, and to have something to do during quarantine.
I don’t plan on maintaining that schedule consistently this coming year. I may post M/W/F one week, Tu/Th the next, Tu/Th two weeks in a row, whatever. Starting now, I likely won’t post on holidays either. Simply put, I need more time off. A person can only watch so much DTV Amityville dross after all. You probably won’t see much of a slowdown for the first few months. But if you come to Culture Crypt and don’t find new content that day, don’t worry. Just know that I’m being a little looser now.
I currently have 40+ unpublished reviews, mostly of older movies. Even if I did something as drastic as only posting once a week, which I don’t anticipate, I’d be able to go 10 months without writing anything else.
But that’s not the plan. I’m still aiming to cover the usual new releases, film festivals like SXSW, and so on. The only thing changing is how I frequently I do that.
In the meantime, I want to thank you for continuing to support the site. Keep taking care of yourselves and your loved ones as much as possible. Culture Crypt will be back on January 4th. I hope you’ll rejoin me!
At least the movie only runs 70 minutes, though I suppose that extra 10 technically disqualifies it from being a literal amateur hour.
