The Irish Film Board, Epic Pictures, and Tailored Films have posted the trailer for their gothic horror film THE LODGERS, which will make its world premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
From a screenplay by David Turpin, the film was directed by Brian O’Malley (Let Us Prey) and stars Charlotte Vega ([REC] 3: Genesis), Bill Milner (X:Men: First Class), David Bradley (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and Eugene Simon (“Game of Thrones”).
SYNOPSIS: "The Lodgers" is a gothic ghost story about orphaned twins Edward and Rachel who share a crumbling manor in 1920’s rural Ireland. But they are not alone. They share the house with unseen entities who control them with three absolute rules. As separate fates draw them apart, the twins must face the terrible truth about their family’s ghostly tormentors.
It is moderately compelling in the moment, but it has a hard time holding up to even cursory scrutiny as far as believable “found footage” concepts go.
